Hindman Auctions, one of the nation's leading and fastest growing fine art auction houses, is looking to add a full-time Business Development Manager in our Chicago office. The Business Development Manager generates consignments for auctions by developing new relationships and expanding existing relationships with private clients, trust and estate attorneys, wealth management professionals and museum professionals in the assigned region.

Key responsibilities:

  • Effectively build and maintain partnerships with clients, customers and other referral sources
  • Strategically call on new prospects in the assigned region to introduce them to Hindman and broaden the Hindman organizational presence
  • Identify and generate potential new consignments
  • Partner with consignment department heads (i.e. jewelry, fine art, etc.) to facilitate business development efforts; leverage specialists to showcase Hindman's knowledge and skill

Successful candidate will possess: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; arts management, art history or business
  • 4-5 years of experience in an arts-related field; experience within the auction industry highly desirable
  • Successful track record of creating sales growth at or above target margins
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic professional
  • Results driven and performance focused mentality
  • Strong understanding of the fine art business, auctions and business development
  • Ability to travel 40-60% of the time
