Hindman Auctions, one of the nation's leading fine art auction houses, is looking to add a full-time Director of Human Resources in our Chicago office. As a member of the senior leadership team, the HR Director will work with the CEO, senior executives, managers, and individual contributors to implement a strategic plan for human capital and align the organization with the company's goals. This role will lead the effort on how Hindman identifies, attracts, hires, trains, encourages, compensates and evaluates employees. They will lead and implement various HR programs and initiatives, including performance management for the 150+ person company. This role will require in office work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the HR department's operations run smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization
  • Lead the company's talent acquisition process; full life cycle recruiting from job descriptions, interviews and candidate selection
  • Research, implement and administer all company compensation and benefit plans; field employee questions and resolve issues
  • Facilitate employee performance evaluation process, including educating staff on the process and deadlines, answering questions, and providing best practices/guidance to managers
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees, recording feedback and identifying any trends and raise concerns
  • Address employee relations issues and concerns, conduct employee surveys and benchmarking, implement training and development programs
  • Run internship program to create a pipeline of junior talent
  • Track and report HR data and metrics

Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree and SHRM (or other HR) certification
  • 8+ years proven experience as an HR professional with expertise in implementing HR policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Experience in the arts and/or auction industry a plus
  • Experience leading an HR team, managing people, and coaching employees
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Superior strategic planning and organizational skills with a hands-on execution style
  • Ability to manage effectively at both a strategic and operational level
