Leslie Hindman Auctioneers (LHA) is looking to add an Accounting Manager to its Finance and Operations team to manage the firm's financial statement preparation and assist with the treasury, tax, compliance, and financial analysis functions. This role will help the firm establish better financial controls and reporting, improve financial insight into key business drivers, and assist in optimizing operational processes.

Key achievements for the first 12 months in this role are:

  • Work with the CFO to re-work the financial reporting for the entire company to enable senior management to make strategic business decisions;
    • Understand metrics behind financial statements and create additional financial summaries to assist management in analyzing key business drivers;
    • Improve the post-auction financial analysis report to help assist current sales employees with strategies for increasing sales;
  • Use your background in financial statement preparation or review to analyze and improve the firm's current monthly close processes, while also ensuring the financial statements are compliant with GAAP;
    • Prepare the firm's financial statements for year-end audit with external firm, while avoiding material adjustments;
    • Learn revenue recognition rules and ensure correct application in firm's financial statements then create a process for timelier reporting of revenue;
  • Perform traditional treasury functions, such as bank reconciliations, cash projections and cash distributions;
    • Prepare a weekly cash flow projection so the firm can correctly manage cash flow;
    • Improve a review process for cash distributions to increase accuracy;
  • Review the sales tax collection, remission and reporting process to ensure 100% compliance with local sales tax laws and collection from customers;
    • Ensuring correct nexus and buyer tax rates on an on-going basis;
  • Review and approve company expenditures and employee expenses to ensure compliance with expenses policies and budget;
    • Review and improve LHA's the current employee expenses policy so that it can be clearly communicated to all employees and new hires.
    • Work with other departments to understand expenditures to identify any budget variances.

The role reports to the CFO, and will have one direct report, a Business Operations Associate. Prior experience in a financial audit role and Certified Professional Accountant certificate would be helpful for a candidate to be successful in this role, however it is not a requirement.

Compensation will be market based and commensurate with the candidate's experience.
